Start by tapping "Measure" on a Waypoint or POI where you'd like to put in:
As an alternative, you can also start measuring from any place on the map by opening the map tool expander in the bottom right corner of the map view and tapping "Measure Distance":
After you've chosen a starting point, you'll have the option to free draw a route or snap it to a river line. For this example, we'll snap the route to the river line:
Build your route by tapping on more Waypoints, POIs, or any location on the map:
You'll get a chance to overview your mapped route before adding more details:
You can add Route details on the next screen and submit it to the public map. Routes and Waypoints are private by default:

Head to the Saved tab and tap "Routes" to see all your saved routes:
